1996 - From the "Live at Blues Alley" album - Eva Cassidys version of Stings "Fields of Gold"...

Eva had a very special voice, and I just love to listen to her - over and over and over again....... THis is a beautiful cover version of Stings song, special because she sings the lyrics different than the original... Just Eva and her guitar... it's some kind of magic about it all... : )

It puzzles me though, that a woman - blessed with such a soothing and soulful voice, was taken away at such an early age... Was she a belilever? Was she saved? How can one possibly tell by just listening to her......? She sung beautiful spiritual songs also....like a christian would.... But how can one tell for sure...? I just don't know how that is done....

She went away from us at the age of 33....

I'm puzzled by such strange and unanswered thoughts tonight.....

Here's the lyrics for you........

Eva Cassidy - Fields Of Gold (Sting) - capo 7fret (Hm)

Hoooooooooooooo………
1. You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

2. So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Among the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold

3. Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
And you can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold

BRIDGE…
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold x2

instrumental x2 (vers)

I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold x2
Hoooooooooooooo………

4. Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
As you lie in fields of gold

5. You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold x3
Hoooooooooooooo………

If anyone reading this, know for sure if she's singing ..."You can tell the sun..." or "You can't tell the sun..." in verses 1,3 and 5-line 3. I'm not quite sure about that. It's kinda difficult catching which is which.... it would've been much easier to tell I guess, if she was english and not american... well, well.... Please give me a hint if you know it for surtain. Thx in advance : ) So long reader : )

Nity nite......
